China Sourcing FAQ —
Straight Answers to What Importers Ask Us Most

No sales spin — just the honest answers we give clients every day, on pricing, payment terms, MOQs, inspection standards, shipping and protecting your idea. Still stuck? Message us on WhatsApp and we reply within 2 business hours.

Getting Started

Is Bolang a factory, an agent, or a trading company?

A trading company, deliberately — in-house sourcing, QC and export teams. We sell under our own name as seller of record: one counterparty, legally on the hook, answering in English. Why we think that's your advantage: the case for a trading company.

How do I start working with Bolang?

Send us what you want to import — a product link, a spec sheet, or a photo is enough — via WhatsApp or the contact form. We reply on WhatsApp within 2 business hours, ask a short set of clarifying questions, and come back with a plan and a quote. If all you need is one factory visited, tell us the factory and what needs checking and we quote and book that single visit. No commitment until you approve the plan.

Do you work with first-time importers?

Yes — many of our clients are on their first or second import. The process is the same; we just explain more along the way. Start with the free China Sourcing Guide.

What products do you cover?

Most consumer and B2B goods. Our deepest in-house expertise is kitchenware, cutlery, wood products and paper goods. For regulated categories (electronics, toys, food contact) we add the certification checks your market requires.

Pricing & Payment

How are your services priced?

Everything is quoted per request — you tell us the product, quantity and destination and we price that job. A single factory visit — a supplier verification visit or a pre-shipment inspection, your choice — is quoted as a fixed fee for that visit, covering one factory, one visit, and a photo-documented written report within 24 hours of the visit. We cover factories across China's main manufacturing regions, and we confirm the visit date with you when we quote. On goods we trade as seller of record, our margin is a percentage of order value on a sliding scale — the larger the order, the lower the percentage — and you see the rate that applies to your order in writing before you commit. Nothing is buried inside a supplier quote.

What payment terms are normal with Chinese suppliers?

The standard is 30% deposit on order, 70% before shipment ("30/70"). Never pay 100% up front, and tie the 70% to a passed pre-shipment inspection — that single clause is the cheapest insurance in China trade.

Can you help if I've already paid a supplier and things went wrong?

Sometimes. We can inspect on the ground, verify what actually exists, and negotiate — but leverage after full payment is limited. Contact us with the details and we'll tell you honestly what's recoverable.

Suppliers & Orders

What is a realistic MOQ?

It varies by product and process: catalog items often carry lower minimums, while custom OEM production starts higher. MOQs are negotiable when you accept catalog specifications, standard colors, or a pilot-order price premium.

How do you verify a supplier?

Registry check on gsxt.gov.cn (licence, status, business scope, penalty lists), then factory evidence: photos or live video walkthrough, capacity questions, export history, and reference products. The registry step is explained in full in How to verify a Chinese supplier.

Factory or trading company — does it matter?

It matters that you know which one you have — and that each is honest about it. Factories sell their own capacity; a transparent trading company sells you reach across many factories, independent QC, consolidation and seller-of-record accountability. What ruins importers is the third option: a trader posing as a factory. Bolang is a trading company and says so — here's the full case, including when factory-direct genuinely wins.

Quality & Inspection

What standard do your inspections use?

AQL sampling per ISO 2859-1 — the same statistical standard used by major retailers. You choose the AQL level with us (typically 2.5 for major defects on consumer goods), we inspect at the factory, and you get a photo-documented written report within 24 hours.

What happens if an inspection fails?

The shipment doesn’t move. You get the defect evidence the same day, we present the factory with the findings, and you choose: rework and re-inspect, accept with a negotiated discount, or reject. If you choose rework, the re-inspection is a new quoted visit — measuring the batch again is the work, and a failed result is information you paid for. What we don’t charge for is our own mistake — if our report was incomplete or wrong, we go back at our cost. And because payment terms hold the 70% until inspection passes, the leverage stays yours.

Can you guarantee zero defects?

No inspection method can — AQL is a statistical sample, and anyone promising zero defects is selling you a slogan. What we guarantee is the process: correct sample sizes, trained inspectors, photographic evidence, and a report in 24 hours, so defects are caught before shipment instead of after arrival.

Shipping & After

Sea or air?

Sea for weight and volume when you can plan a few weeks ahead; air when speed pays for itself (launches, restocks, samples). We quote both on request so the trade-off is a number, not a guess.

Do you handle customs and documents?

We prepare the export documentation and coordinate with your customs broker at destination.

Which markets do you ship to?

We work with importers worldwide — most clients import into North America, Europe, the UK and Australia.

Trust & IP

How do I know Bolang is a real company?

Check us the way we check suppliers — our registered legal name (Huizhou Bolang Technology Co., Ltd.), address and Unified Social Credit Code 91441381MACXR9203L are published on our About page, so you can look us up on gsxt.gov.cn yourself. Then ask us for a sample inspection report and for client references you can contact directly — we send both on request.

How is my product idea protected?

Before your concept reaches any factory we put an NNN agreement in place — Non-Disclosure, Non-Use, Non-Circumvention — under Chinese jurisdiction, which is what makes it enforceable. For tooling, mold-ownership clauses keep your molds yours.

Will you share my supplier or client information?

No. We do not cross-share supplier identities, client identities, prices or terms and it's how a sourcing company keeps long-term trust on both sides.
